Palheiro Gardens & Levada walk (Half-Day – Afternoon Departure)
Madeira is famed for its beautiful flowers and this tour will give you a glimpse of some of the vegetation of Madeira. The gardens of Quinta do Palheiro, currently owned by the Blandy family, were originally laid out in the 18th century. Some of the original themed gardens have survived to the present day, plus new plants have been introduced, making the gardens even more fascinating. On leaving the gardens, we set off to join one of Madeira’s levadas. These are man-made irrigations channels (similar to miniature canals) which feed the water from the mountains to the plantations and houses below. Enjoy a pleasant walk, with lovely views and fresh, clean mountain air. Comfortable clothing and adequate footwear is advisable for the 1 hour walk.
